What is Polylino?
Polylino is a digital picture book service for UK nurseries and preschools to support language and literacy development in their pupils both in the classroom and at home.
Our vision is to bring the magic of storytime to every child, as we want all children in the UK, no matter their background or learning requirements to have the same reading opportunities.
Our user-friendly digital reading solution hosts hundreds of high-quality picture books which have been carefully curated to align with the EYFS curriculum. Children's literature expert Jake Hope described it as a "treasure trove of titles to suit all tastes and subjects, all at the touch of a screen".
All of the books on Polylino are available to read and listen to in English, and many of the books can be listened to in different languages. This means that Polylino provides an alternative and engaging way to support EAL students who speak a different language from English when they are at home.
For each book, a child can browse the pages, listen to or mute the audio and read for themselves with the text highlighted or not, bookmark their favourite parts, zoom in on the text or artwork, and read together or seperately. The accessibility of the books on Polylino means that it works well as a solution to support SEND students at a nursery who require additional support at storytime.
Anyone who signs up for Polylino is provided with a Teacher Guide written by Jake Hope which provides detailed information about how a nursery can use Polylino to support language development with their children.
The Polylino Home Access option allows nursery staff to give access to parents/guardians to use Polylino at home with their children to support their learning journey outside of the classroom.
