We have just been listed in the top ten for Business Cloud’s 2024 Edtech50 and were especially highlighted at the BETT Awards 2024 as ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Transformational Impact’ category.
“The judges said this is a much needed tool in developing awareness of diversity and inclusiveness in schools and education! The testimonials from schools were strong with substantial evidence on the implementation of the tool and the platform seems to be gaining traction. Diversity, inclusivity and equity in EdTech is such an important topic and GEC are clearly doing this in a big and powerful way.”
BETT Awards, Highly Commended, Transformational Impact 2024 category
“It was certainly very, very close as to which was going to be the winner, and who was the runner up. But this was a really special tool that is making a huge difference to schools. I think one of the things that stood out about this platform was the incredible depth of research that's really gone into bringing this tool to the market. That was something that stood out, along with the impact that it's then having. It's only been around about 18 months or so, already in over 300 schools in 30 countries. Really, really proud to have the runner up being GEC Platform by the Global Equality Collective. Very, very well done to them!”
Global Edtech Awards, Runner Up, Well-Being, Online Safety and Safeguarding 2024 category
“The GEC Platform is revolutionising not only how education understands diversity and inclusion, but also how edtech can disrupt the sector to improve outcomes for staff and students alike.”
BETT Awards, Finalist in the Innovator of the Year 2023 category
“The GEC Platform is the app of our time. It deliberately does not shy away from asking organisations deep thought provoking questions about equality. The best bit is, it not only asks questions of organisations… but it also has the answers too!”
Chris Jackson, Headteacher Avonwood Primary School, United Learning Trust
“This is much more than an app or an accreditation. The GEC Platform is a one stop shop of curated research, analytics, expert sector voices, ready-made CPD tools and resources, peer reviewed reading recommendations and a supportive community. This is a springboard to real and ongoing whole scale organisational change and development.”
Emma Turner FCCT, Author and Research Lead for DSAT
“The GEC deals with equality and inclusion from early years to post-16. If people are going to change, all parties need to be on board. The work that the GEC does is invaluable and I am sure that the outcome will be that we don’t need to talk about stereotypes and equality. They will be a thing of the past.”
Graham Andre, BAFTA nominated BBC2 documentary, co-author of ‘The Equal Classroom’ and teacher
Recommended Usage
The GEC Platform opens a window on schools current cultural health position and enables leadership to work with its teachers and students to improve and broaden its understanding through a wealth of resources from the GEC Library and tailored advice from specialists to inform their future inclusion and well-being journey and strategy.
GEC Champions (SLT) are required to complete the Self Assessment (20 mins individual and 60 for a team). Staff surveys take 20 minutes and students 15 minutes (unsupervised) to 30 minutes (1:1 supervision).
Following this, the Champion engages with the data and action plan.
All staff can access the 'GEC Library', a Netflix style online CPD hub, with over 250 materials including lived experience videos and Leadership 'Playbooks'. Materials for student assemblies and lessons can be shared by staff directly.
We recommend that Champions engage at least monthly with the GEC Action Plan and Library once they have their data for action-driven impact. Staff should access the GEC Library for CPD needs - at least termly.
