I love the fact that it exposes and addresses misconceptions. I just wish it was easier to scan through student responses. Even making it easier to scan through questions in an assignment before setting it would help. I love that there is further support available for students who continue to struggle on a topic.

I think eedi is excellent and also easy to use. I think it is a great tool for developing and practicing key skills and I like the way it is aligned to White Rose Maths which my colleagues use.

For a classroom teacher, it could be good, once they find their way around it. For tutoring, it seems likely to have limited value. The one time used it with a real student for tutoring, the built in tutoring was painful. It didn't really suit my student. This new aspect of Eedi needs more thought, especially when used with a live (possibly private) tutor.

This could be a powerful technique for many (NOT ALL) diagnostic questions. It could provide much more insight into misconceptions. Especially if combined with students giving a level of confidence in their answer (RAG, say). A confidently wrong answer needs a different response to a low confidence right or wrong answer.”
- Does not significantly improve teaching efficiency“When tutoring and using Diagnostic Questions with the student, there is more chance to discuss the options first. Eedi doesn't really support this. This is another way that free text input on suitable question structures would be valuable prior to offering multiple choice answers.”

There are still some issues that desperately need sorting out and Eedi team haven't solved yet. Some staff simply cannot login which means ALL their students they teach maths are not being set homework yet. This is a serious concern.

As a teacher I find it easy to use, it saves me time, it provides support for all students in homework tasks and ICT based lessons, builds independent learning skills in students, motivates students (prize draws), and involves parents - what more can we ask?

It often happens that within a lesson EEDI can target 100+ misconceptions. The analysis afterwards allows me to target the remaining few misconceptions in my next lesson. This is usually done as an alternative starter activity for the specific students that need it. 3) Using EEDI Tutor Plus has reduced teacher workload as most students are able to complete the intervention at home, either independently or with parent support. This has reduced the need for teachers to work during lunchtimes and after-school. This time is now targeted at students who need the support/guidance in school.”

I introduced Eedi to the whole of our secondary pathway as in its original form it allowed teachers to check the knowledge of their learners. The improved version goes much further and helps support learners to understand where they make mistakes. The learners also like the idea of the avatars and personalising their profile.
